Today we’re talking to tenants, specifically to tenants who would like to have a great rental experience and enjoy a good relationship with their landlords or property managers. How can you work with the people you’re renting from to ensure you can stay in the home as long as you’d like, and to establish good landlord references for the future?
We have some ideas.
When you’re renting a Long Beach property, you’re agreeing to follow the terms of your lease and be a good neighbor to the other residents living in your community. Your landlord is responsible for providing a safe and habitable home for you to enjoy.
Being a good tenant may come naturally to you; and today, we’re discussing some of the things that can really make you stand out as the type of resident that landlords and property managers are eager to attract to their properties.
Communicate and Maintain Good Relationships
Most lease agreements are for at least a year, so it’s a good idea to establish a professional and polite relationship with your landlord or property manager. This doesn’t mean you need to become best friends. But you do need to be transparent, responsible, and willing to have open, productive conversations when necessary. Other things that contribute to a good relationship include:- Communicating promptly. Answer phone calls and return messages.
- Be flexible when maintenance is needed or inspections are scheduled.
- Pay rent on time. Don’t make your landlord chase you down.
